There were 38 entries from 13 farms representing 12 growers in Australia and one from New Zealand. It was pleasing to see entries from farms that are relatively new to oil distillation.

Judges scored oil samples according to the following olfactory criteria: positive notes, negative notes, intensity and balance. Numerical scores were given by each judge and the high sum of scores proved the winning place in that category. Only Category 7 Blends was scored non-numerically.

Category 5: The Anna Tyson Award for L. x intermedia ‘Grosso’ Winner Bruce Bickerton, Blue Mountains Lavender.

Category 6: The Rosemary Holmes Award for L. angustifolia (blue) Winner Pascal Jallier, Fraussie P/L for ‘Pacific Blue’.

Category 7: Blends, were judged on popular appeal and received Certificates of Merit awarded to Leven K Lavender, QLD and Huon Valley Lavender Farm, TAS.

Category 8: Tetraploids, winner Bruce Bickerton, Blue Mountains Lavender for ‘Riverina Thomas’.
